Day 10 - Cochrane, AB to Stony Plain, AB

We continue to work our way northwest. Large cities and towns are farther apart and services are becoming more limited as we go. The highways are in very good condition.

The Route
Today's 240 mile trip was uneventful. We went east on AB-1A out of Cochrane to the Calgary AB-201 outer-belt. AB-201 eastbound connected with AB-2 northbound which took us to Edmonton. We took the AB-216 outer-belt westbound at Edmonton to TCH-16 and took TCH-16 westbound to Stony Plain. We messed around a little bit by leaving the AB-2 highway between Calgary and Red Deer to take in some local flavor along a less-traveled route (AB-2A).

About the Day
The morning was sunny with clear skies. We enjoyed a pleasant, dry trip all the way to Stony Plain (west of Edmonton). It started to rain just after we connected utilities and got the chocks set. Fortunately, the rain stopped after about 2 hours.

Calgary is a relatively young, sprawling city with homes clinging to nearly every hillside.

Canada is quite a home for RVs. We’ve seen huge sales and storage lots from coast to coast. Alberta is no exception. There are so many of both we think it prudent to put the sales lots inside the storage lots. That way, new owners wouldn’t have to move their rigs very far to store them. There don't seem to be many on the road.
First you buy 'em
Then you store 'em

We had a delightful lunch at Macy’s Restaurant in Didsbury. It’s one of those unassuming little places off the beaten path that’s full of pleasant surprises.

Lots of oil exploration and drilling equipment reappeared as we approached Edmonton.

The Campground
The Camp 'n Class RV Park has fun name and lives up to every part of it. Their facilities, amenities and staff blend nicely to provide guests with a memorable "glamping" experience.

The office staff told us they have been very busy providing space for families escaping the Fort McMurray fire.
