Day 48 – Mt. Vernon, WA to Seattle, WA

We continue the slow return into a bustling world.

The Route
Today’s trip was short and simple … 67 miles south on I-5 from Mt. Vernon to Bellevue.

About the Day
It’s been sunny all day, with a light breeze. The temperature reached the mid 70’s.

Along the Way
Travel thoughts …
We’ve reflected on our trip since returning to the U.S. There have been rough roads, mountains, snow, rain, mud, dust, cold, heat and lots of wonderful experiences.

We’re thankful for a trailer that’s kept us safe and comfortable for over 75,000 miles in spite of some tough going. It feels as much like a home as the day we got it.

Withdrawal …
It’s difficult to describe the changes we experienced when we returned to the “real world”. Maybe these comparisons will help.

Visit with the Siehls …
We had the joy of connecting with Jon & Judy Siehl for the first time since our visit two years ago. We had a great time catching up, having dinner at Chinook's and exploring Magnolia Bluff. Judy’s homemade strawberry shortcake provided a delightful end to the evening.

Chinook’s at Salmon Bay
We had delicious seafood dinners at Chinook’s in Fishermen’s Terminal. Our window seating looked out on the marina. The service and meals were excellent. Try the Boston clam chowder and Keta salmon fish and chips.

Magnolia Bluff
The bluff overlooks Puget Sound and is perfect for an after dinner stop. It provides views of the Seattle waterfront, the Space Needle, Mt. Rainier and lots of ferry and cruise ship traffic.

The Campground
We’re staying at Trailer Inns of Bellevue. We stayed here two years ago on September 7th. It hasn’t changed a bit. It’s basically an RV parking lot with utility hook-ups. Back-in parking is quite a challenge

Tomorrow
We continue south on I-5 to Portland.

  1. For some reason, the Siehls name seems familiar. Is it possible that I have met them before? Are they musical?
