After
today, we’re going to stay put for a while.
The
Route
I-90 travels beside the campground. We took it to I-405S which
connected with I-5S. I-5 then took us south to the outskirts of Portland where
we took I-205 to within a few blocks of the Winslea home. The total driving distance
was 184 miles.
About the Day
The day began with typical west coast “June gloom”. Clouds hung
low and there was a misty rain. The clouds burned off by mid-day. It became
mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid 70’s.
Along the Way
Leaving Trailer Inns …
This is what we mean by calling it a parking lot.

Heading down I-5 …
Some fun …
We stopped at Shari’s Restaurant
in Olympia for a late breakfast.
A selection called “Oregon Farmer Style Cinnama-sation Platter”
caught our attention. It consisted of 2 eggs, hash brown potatoes, Applewood-Smoked
Bacon and fresh baked cinnamon rolls dipped in egg batter, grilled and topped
with caramel sauce, candied pecans and whipped cream.
Carol ordered first and Dick had to follow suit to make sure subsequent
reports were accurate.
Truly unforgettable (confirmed by Dick) |
Some residents from a nearby Airstream Land Yacht park stopped as we were returning to the trailer after lunch. They introduced themselves and wanted to know about our trip.
The rest of the drive was uneventful.
End of the day …
We arrived in Portland about 4 pm; parallel parked the trailer
between a Honda CR-V and a phone pole, unhitched and unloaded.
We had a fun pizza dinner and visited with Scott and Patti Kelly
before they left to catch a red-eye flight home.
The Campground
The trailer is parked in front of Tim & Elizabeth Winslea’s
home. We won’t be staying in the trailer while we’re here.
Tomorrow
We’ll enjoy the holiday in Portland.
