Day 22 – Fairbanks, AK (Day 2)

Today we did trip planning, shopping and learned more about Alaska.

The Route
We stayed in Fairbanks.

About the Day
It was cloudy and cool with some sun and brief showers.

We made reservations for visiting Denali National Park and spent the rest of the day at the University of Alaska Museum of the North.

We wanted to learn more about Alaska native cultures, natural wonders and diverse wildlife. This museum was highly recommended.
The university has a beautiful campus setting.
The Museum of the North
Otto the 9' brown bear greeted Carol.

We toured the Gallery of Alaska, Collections Gallery, and the Rose Berry Alaska Art Gallery. The exhibits were very interesting and beautifully presented.

We also viewed movies describing the northern lights and a year in the life of the bowhead whale.

The Place Where You Go To Listen was unique in that the experience is driven by real-time changes throughout Alaska.

The Campground
The rain stopped overnight and we were able to finish our set-up today.

The sites are short and narrow, but are separated by trees, shrubs and flowers.

Week 3
The rain hasn't helped this crop grow.

Tomorrow
We’re staying in Fairbanks an extra day so we can visit the Chena Hot Springs Ice Hotel.
