This
post describes what we did today. It excludes most Denali impressions. Our take
on the entire Denali experience will be described in the next post.
The Route
Like yesterday, we drove about 4 miles north to Healy for
breakfast and then back south to the park.
About the Day
Unlike yesterday, we awoke to a beautiful day. Clear skies and sunshine
stayed with us all day. The temperature reached the low 70s.
We returned to Rose’s Café
for breakfast. It’s the place to go around here.
Then we headed for the park.
At the park …
We went to the Wilderness Access Center and watched the park film “Across
Time and Tundra” where we learned about the birth of Mt. McKinley National Park and the beginnings of the Park Road. The
story was impressive.
We visited the train depot.

A courtesy shuttle took us to the kennels for a Sled Dog
Demonstration.

Sorry Carol, it's a no go. No dogs are hitched up. |

Unhitching |
We then drove the Park Road to Mile 14.7 (Savage River) for the third
time. We see something new each time we go.
We searched for Denali, but didn’t see it. There were some
teasers.
There are lots of large mountains here. |
End of the Day …
We got together with John and Rose Pearson to compare notes on the
day’s adventures.
Tomorrow
We head for Anchorage.
