Today
consisted of a little work and a little play.
The Route
All wanderings were within Anchorage.
About the Day
It was very pleasant … partly cloudy, light breeze, mid-60s.
Along the Way
Dick got the car serviced at the local Dodge dealer this morning
while Carol stayed home and received Birthday greetings.
Then we set off to play a bit.
Stop 1 – Kava Pancake House
for brunch.
Our first experience was so good a retest was in order. We arrived
at a quieter time. The results matched the first visit.
Stop 2 – Earthquake Park
The 1964 Alaskan earthquake (a.k.a. Great Alaskan earthquake or
Good Friday earthquake) occurred on March 27th. It was the most
powerful recorded in North American history.

Stop 3 – Viewpoint on Cook Inlet
Rose let us know Denali was visible in the morning. Clouds had
moved in by the time we arrived. We’re pretty sure it’s a myth … arrgh, we’ve
“mythed” it every time we’ve looked.

Stop 4 – Lake Hood Float Plane Base
Lake Hood is the world’s busiest seaplane base, handling an
average of 190 flights per day. It’s adjacent to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

Carol did laundry (on her birthday?) after we returned from play.
What a trooper!
We got together with John and Rose to share stories, plan tomorrow’s move to
Kenai and to keep an eye on the Cavs vs. Warriors game (Cavs won 112 - 97).
Whisker Fun
| Week 4 - Some of the crop failed. (Sure looks a lot like brother Dave.) |
Tomorrow
We’re off to the Kenai Peninsula.
